Favorite Books

I have written much about books on this blog, and had Amazon on my sidebar for a while advertising what my favorite books are to read. But I wanted to get rid of that and focus a post on my favorite books and what I am currently reading.

I love reading--mostly because I love learning. Before Bene was born, I read up to seven books a month. Now that I have two children, there is very little time to read. Because of this, I must be particular about the books that I read. All the books on this page are worth spending time on.

I am currently reading:
**What Is Wrong with the World?
by G.K. Chesterton
This will be my third time reading the book, although I did not finish it the second time through. I really enjoy this book and all that Chesterton has to say, and it has already inspired a series which I will be starting soon.

Books on my "To Read" list:
There are so many books on my "to read" list. I would really like to read many of the classics (or Great Books) before I have to teach about them. Luckily I have a few years! I also want to read all of Kimberly Hahn's books, especially her Biblical Wisdom series. As well as the books listed on my Food, Naturally Series intro page.

Favorite books I've read include:
**Chesterton's Collected Works Vol. IV
Works included: What's Wrong with the World, The Superstition of Divorce, Eugenics and Other Evils, Divorce versus Democracy, and Social Reform versus Birth Control.

**Anything else by Chesterton (because it is all quality writing!)

**The Well-Trained Mind
by Susan Wise Bauer and Jessie Bauer
I really enjoyed learning about classical education and the Bauers' particular teaching style. It makes perfect sense and one wonders why all children are not taught in this format.

**Real Food: What to Eat and Why
by Nina Planck

**Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats
by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig

**Parenting by The Book
by John Rosemond

**The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding
by LLLI

**Breastfeeding and Natural Child Spacing
by Sheila Kippley

**Breastfeeding and Catholic Motherhood: God's Plan for You and Your Baby
by Sheila Kippley

**Natural Family Planning: The Complete Approach
by John & Sheila Kippley

**Fertility, Cycles, and Nutrition
by Marilyn Shannon

**How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization
by Thomas Woods

**Papal Encyclicals
(You can purchase most in book form or find them free on the Vatican website.)

I will update this periodically when I find another good book or get around to unpacking all mine!
